The river Tora is the lifeblood of Traimont. From its source high in the Traimun mountains, the fast flowing waters carry trade goods from the capital city of Toraquai across the plains before dividing in two to reach the port cities of Kheraima and Tuvaika. The borders of Traimont are framed in the south by the Traimun mountain range and the Tovai forest in the east. The climate of Traimont is temperate, with the Traimuns providing the only real variation. Their peaks are high enough to remain snow-capped all year round. Among these granite edifices lies the castle of Traimo, where the Traimonian Brotherhood makes its home and trains the sons of Traimont in the ancient Code of Traimontai. Apart from the coastal cities, the majority of settlements fall on either side of the Tora, where extensive farms provide staple foods for the population. The major woodlands of Kheratuai and Tovai are dense conglomerations of trees, rich in game, and the settlements near these forests enjoy their delicacies. Rumours persist of untamed beasts roaming the forests, but even the library of Toraquai, the Repositum, does not provide any definitive answers to these rumours. For several generations, Traimont has enjoyed mostly peaceful relationships with the neighbouring kingdoms. Lonminium, long a faithful ally to the sons of Traimontai lies over the Traimun Mountains to the south. The fractious people of Sokath often launch unprovoked raids into Western Traimont, stealing unseen through the Tovai forest, and escaping via the same route after stealing livestock and attacking more isolated villages. Trade does occur between the two countries, though tensions often run high among the border dwellers of both peoples. At the crossroad city of Rendeth, a key military location, Traimont meets Lonminium, Sokath and Araimedes, home of the great scholars of Sotramar. Lonminium |
