Everybody is acting upon  this, so perchance why not me!

The whole world possesses a Log of the Web, it is rather trendy.
It appears to the untrained eye that narcissism is somewhat popular.
Thus, it falls to me, like so many sheep before me, I shall follow the trend like a
lemming from a cliff.

I will endeavour to pass on the details of my daily live, and perhaps we shall see
some bimonthly results on these hallowed pages...

I resolve to imprint some photographic images once in every while.

When having nothing to do becomes routine

Good day to you all.
And thus we find ourselves in the end of term examination period. The exams,
which herald the hazy days of summer. To all intents and purpose, for the
students and the teachers, it’s good news, gazing longingly to the holidays just
over the horizon. For the ALT, however, thing’s ain’t so good.

That is to say, I have nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing to do during the day. I
don’t supervise the exams, I don’t correct anything (less this year), I don’t set the
exams (again, less this year). In brief, I arrive at my desk, I sit down, I wait around
for eight hours and I leave. I suppose there are worse jobs available. My ordeal
finishes in two days, wish me luck!

When Having Nothing To Do Becomes Dangerous!

Good day to you all (Monday evening, 11 July, 2005)
I was at my desk today, 29 degrees Celsius, humidity level 1000, just a normal
day! Once again today, no classes scheduled. Perfect! I'm going to be able to
watch a DVD (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, very very funny) an write some
letters that I have to write. Listening to the DVD goes very well, I smile in silence, I
drink my Aomori apple juice, the day seems promising...not!

I get up to go to the lavatory (after 200ml of apple juice, ouf!) Ow! Ouch! A little
stiffness in my left shoulder, ah! That causes me pain when I move my arm or my
head...the day doesn't seem so promising. You are surely thinking 'It's not fun to
be me!' And you would have good cause.
Now a cheerier note!

I was elected 'Chairman of the Kanagawa AJET.' Kangawaa is the prefecture and
AJET is the association for the JETs (me and my subjects.) I took the liberty,
following my election, to proclaim myself Emperor of Kanagawa, I dissolved the
Senate to form the first Intergalactic Empire and I also issued Order 66 to kill all
the Jedi.

Joking aside, that means that I preside over the council which organises
activities for the JETs, and also I represent the prefecture at the National AJET
meetings. I'm unlike everyone else!
In passing, happy birthday to Marc Andre Bodet!

Marc Andre and Catherine are here!

They arrived on 20 July as expected .They were also able to prove the old adage
that it's a small world. Ibu was in Montreal with the Mayor of Yokohama to help
with the opening of FINA. He was returning on 19 July (leaving from Canada), and
thanks to the littleness of our blue planet  (yes, yes, I took that from Goldorak) his
seat was directly in front of those of Marc Andre and Catherine and next to a man
called Sam.

In brief, this made their arrival in Japan a lot easier, (thank you Ibu, you are very
cool). They arrived around 4.30pm local time. We went to kaitenzushi, (the best
Japanese fast food, sushi). They went to bed around 10pm in order to get up the
following morning...no jet-lag whatsoever, I say 0, nothing, nada, niet, zenzen,
nothing...incredible. I have to admit that this made sightseeing a lot more
interesting.

More details to follow when we see each other the next time...

Iain’s Photos at the beach (I find them very, very beautiful)

The water was good. I have to say, sorry mum, I love my shaved head, it make me
feel good and I wish I’d done it long before.

I love the t-shirt that I’m wearing, Go Drunkn Munky!

A photo of me, after a super Frisbee catch. Iain has evidently taken this photo
when I was at my best.

I find this photo beautiful because the child was really enjoying just looking at the
sea coming in and going out. I don’t know, it touched me a bit…and me
sentimental…it’s almost not funny.

I want to see the sea…

It’s done, I’ve seen it…I left my desk around 12.15 to go to meet up at Odawara,
which is about one and a half hours from my house by train! I arrived at the beach
around 2pm local time to make the most of this beautiful day.
I have to admit that the beach was very average. There was lots of debris and
diverse objects on the sand and in the sea. The water was cold and very good,
but I have to say I preferred sunbathing, as I have need of a little colour!

Chris took photos of the day. All these photos are his. Look at the great hat he’s
wearing…how can you resist him?

We made the most of the sun to play a bit of Frisbee. Iain demonstrates his
abilities for an interesting ‘sport’…

Hooligans, it’s us! The gorillas of the West!
Is this not just a little beautiful? I think that I have beautiful buttocks, perhaps it’s
just me, but it seems to me that this is one cute piece of man, don’t you think so
ladies?
