Round Two, Bermuda
(6 deals)
Report by Carlos Fernando-Chavez

Yes, expectations were high in the picturesque setting of Bermuda
for the hotly anticipated second round of the PAGRUC. With Cuba
absent from this round's hostilities, the newcomers to the action
were plucky Guatemala, spearheaded by their elite Rummeyer,
Pablo Mackintosh. Representing Canadia once again was Pedro
Fu-Fu Fortin, and rounding out the troika was Bermuda's Toby the
Pirate.
The initial rounds saw the gap in class brazenly apparent, with
Guatemala falling swiftly behind the more experienced Bermuda and
Canadia. Perhaps it was too much to expect Pablo to make a
realistic assault on such Gin Rummy heavyweights, but he seemed
to grow more confident as the round went on. The lead exchanged
hands several times between Toby and Pedro, but in the end, it was
thanks to some bold strategising that Pedro leapfrogged Toby to
claim victory for the second successive round. There was a charged
atmosphere throughout, and the tension will be building until the
next encounter.

Round Three, Cuba
(15 deals)
Report by Carlos Fernando-Chavez

Following swiftly on the heels of the second round of the PAGRUC
held in Bermuda, the battle-hardened warriors moved to Cuba for
the third installment. It was a gruelling and often tense affair, with
lead changes galore. Pablo Mackintosh leapt into an early lead, only
to see it dissipate in the closing stages with two huge minus rounds.
Pedro Fu-Fu Fortin took up some of the slack, but his consistency
was severely lacking in the later rounds. Emerging on top after
fifteen rounds of nail-biting action was Toby the Pirate, earning his
first PAGRUC victory this season.

Rounds Four and Five, International PAGRUC Arena
Report by Carlos Fernando-Chavez

Rounds four and five of PAGRUC have arrived and departed in the
space of two days. These rounds saw the introduction of three new
participant countries, and much excitement ensued. In round four,
a mighty five-way struggle involving Costa Rica, represented by
Roe Zahn, plus the Louisiana Purchase fronted by Big P, it was the
veteran Toby the Pirate who walked away with victory.
Round Five saw another newcomer, French Guiana's DJ
Bustahoodwink, who started well, but finished poorly, for another
victory for Canadia's Pedro Fu-Fu Fortin.
And now, a new PAGRUC leader...

Round Six, Cuba
(6 deals)

After a two-week summer break, PAGRUC returned to Cuba for
Round Six. The three valiant competitors were Guatemala, current
leaders Bermuda, and hosts Cuba. Pablo Mackintosh of Guatemala
suffered some horrendous luck and was just able to scrape above
zero in the last round. Bermuda's Toby the Pirate led for much of
the contest, but was thwarted by the last round heroics of Margot
Brown, who earned the home country's first victory in this season's
PAGRUC.
